This 2-3 hour(ish) lesson will cover the basics of the sewing machine (You will be using a Brother CS7000x in the studio), how to cut fabric on a cutting mat with gridlines and many other sewing basics. You will complete a beginner project. Several choices of fabric are available or bring your own. Click here for BEGINNER PROJECTS.
This 3-4 hour(ish) lesson is for a semi-beginner. You already know some of the basics. You've made some beginning projects before and gotten to know the sewing machine a little. You may leave with a completed project or come back once more to complete. Click here for SEMI-BEGINNER PROJECTS.
These projects may require 6-9 hours to complete and can be divided into as many sessions as needed. Lesson may include tips for achieving perfect zipper tabs, inserting inner and outer pockets in purses/totes (with or without zipper), beginning quilting for small projects, foundation paper piecing, a variety of binding technique choices, etc. Click here for ADVANCED BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE PROJECTS.
Each student sews the same project. (Price per student is $10 off listed project cost.)
I'm generally available Monday thru Friday 10-5, or evenings from 7-9:30 p.m. Occasional weekend times are available. Lessons can usually be scheduled 1-2 weeks in advance. No lessons mid June-August. Email: DebRamrath@gmail.com
I offer group classes for up to six students. You can book your own class with friends, sign up with me for a group special from time to time, or schedule a class through Needham Community Education. Email me for the details about the next NCE class.
If you have recently purchased a brand new sewing machine and would like to bring it to your lesson, I will be glad to help you get to know it. I'll do my best to educate myself about your machine, but please google a tutorial on how to thread and wind a bobbin prior to lesson. If you have a hand-me-down or old machine, please have it serviced before lesson: https://www.annsfabrics.com/sewing-machine-repair--embroidery-machine-repair-industrial-machine-repair.htm
