Music has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up influenced by my father's career as a violinist in the Boston Symphony Orchestra and conductor of various orchestras. At age 5, I began classical piano lessons, studying with Martha Voisin, an accomplished pianist, and eventually with Leo Litwin, known for his Rhapsody in Blue with the Boston Pops.
During my high school years, I was the pianist for several of Needham High's musical productions. While pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse, I continued to study music privately while attending college, but my musical interests came to the foreground during my stay-at-home years raising three young children. At that time, I began playing for local nursing homes and community productions. From 2000-2005 I served as the music director for St. Anselm parish in Sudbury, Massachusetts and pursued Christian contemporary songwriting. I've been published by GIA and am a lifetime member of the Hymn Society.
In 2005 I decided to embark on a new musical journey, joining a folk rock original band and writing and recording in the folk/rock, and pop genres. For over ten years I played out for fundraisers, local fairs, restaurant and pub venues with various bands.
One of my greatest joys in life is to share my love of music. I have been teaching children and adults in my home studio in Framingham, Needham, and Strike Up the Band in Natick, holding annual student recitals for over 20 years. I hold a certificate through the Royal Conservatory of Music for teaching beginners and intermediate students, and in advanced performance. Prior to the pandemic, I was an associate member of NEPTA (New England Piano Teachers Association) and MTNA ( Music Teachers National Association) and continued to study privately and attend yearly music conferences to bring new and fresh ideas to my students.
At this time, I am semi-retired and no longer have a full-time studio for children - but, teaching piano continues to be important and rewarding. If you are an adult who wants to learn piano for the first time, or someone who took lessons as a child/teen and would like to revisit your musical journey, please contact me.
